HADITHA DAM, Iraq (Oct. 22, 2005) - (left to right) Claremore, Okla. native Cpl. Timothy R. Roundtree and Orland, Calif. native Cpl. Joshua E. Thompson, both mechanics for 3rd Battalion, 1st Marine Regiment, have worked side by side since joining the Marines December 2002. KHAFFAJIYAH, Iraq - Lance Corporal Pedro L. Rangel provides security during an operation to clear insurgents from the city here. Rangel, a field radio operator with Regimental Combat Team 2 informs local Iraqis when coalition forces enter a city letting them know how they can stay safe. Rangel also meets with inhabitants of the city face to face handing out information pamphlets and collecting information that could lead to the whereabouts of insurgents. CAMP AL QAIM, Iraq ? Riding out on vehicles, Marines and Iraqi troops pass M1 Abrams tanks preparing for Operation Steel Curtain, Nov. 4. The Marines assigned to 3rd Platoon, Company E, 2nd Battalion, 1st Marine Regiment, and Iraqis with 1st Battalion, 1st Brigade, 1st Division, Iraqi Army, participated in the joint offensive against insurgents within border towns on the Lower Euphrates River Valley recently. - CAMP AL QAIM, Iraq ? Gantt is a prime example of an effectively trained Marine and he was awarded the Bronze Star medal with a combat distinguishing device Oct. 31, for actions performed during Operation Iraqi Freedom. He served as a tank commander with 2nd Platoon, Company A, 2nd Tank Battalion. - MARINE CORPS BASE CAMP LEJEUNE, N.C. (Nov. 4, 2005) - Sergeant Anthony J. Christopher Mayette relinquished command of 10th Marine Regiment, 2nd Marine Division, to Col. Glenn T. Starnes of Dallas during a change of command ceremony here, Oct. 31. - MARINE CORPS BASE CAMP LEJEUNE, N.C. (Nov. 3, 2005) - The whole regiment was assembled as South Bend, Ind., native, Lt. Col. Hicks, an electrical equipment repairman, Headquarters Battalion, 2nd Marine Division, provides the electricity that keeps the 2nd Marine Division's Communications Company up and running. Communications Company provides the main conduit for all internet, phone and radio communications flowing into and out of the camp which houses the 2nd Marine Division's Headquarters.
