BARWANA, Iraq (Oct. 26, 2005) - Marines from Company L, 3rd Battalion, 1st Marine Regiment leave their firm base here to gather census information about their new area of operations here Oct. 26. Leading the patrol is Cpl. Ralph E. Arzate of Victorville, Calif. who along with other Marines and an interpreter went from house to house gathering the information to compile a book to be used for future operations and to get a better feel for the communities. HADITHA DAM, Iraq (Oct. 19, 2005) - Idaho Falls, Idaho native Cpl. Christopher L. Carney, a convoy security element commander for 3rd Battalion, 1st Marine Regiment keeps convoys safe while supporting Operation Iraqi Freedom. The infantryman turned security commander makes sure the safe transportation of Marines and supplies to their destinations within the battalion area of operations. AR RAMADI, Iraq (October 28, 2005) - Corporal Brown, squad leader from 3rd platoon, Company L, 3rd Battalion, 7th Marine Regiment patrols up a stairwell inside the Women's and Children's Hospital during Operation Doctor Oct. 25. The humanitarian mission was led by local ISF soldiers and included more than $500,000 worth of medical supplies for the people of Ar Ramadi. Photo by Cpl. Camp Ripper, Iraq (October 24, 2005)--The Staff Sgt. Kendall H. Ivy II Memorial gym opened in August and since then has been a place of relaxation for those need to work off the stress of being a combat zone. Ivy who died during Operation Matador was a well-known Marine for those working with Regimental Combat Team-2 often describes him as the poster child for a true Marine.
