FALLUJAH, Iraq - Petty Officer 2nd Class Phillip Jean-Gilles, a corpsman working with 1st Battalion, 6th Marine Regiment's Iraqi Security Forces training cadre, demonstrates how to tie a tourniquet before a class of Iraqi soldiers and policemen here Aug. 1. Since mid-March, battalion personnel have trained approximately 600 Iraqi personnel on topics such as first aid in combat, infantry tactics, and convoy driving skills. Luis Bonilla, an administration clerk with 1st Battalion, 6th Marine Regiment, puts the finishing touches on an 'Indian head' sign he created July 31 for display at the chapel here. CAMP AL QA'IM, Iraq (August 15, 2005)- Master Gunnery Sgt. Paul L. Atherton, 48, the 5th Civil Affairs Group, Detachment 4 chief, recieves his fourth Navy Marine Corps Achievement Medal from Lt. Col. Tim Mundy, the commanding officer of 3rd Battalion, 2nd Marine Regiment, Regimental Combat Team-2. The Bloomsburg, Pa., native recived the medal for his actions during Operation Matador in May. The chapel is being built to allow more people from outside the camp and overall more people attend church services. The construction is expected to be complete by next month.
