U.S. Marine Corps photo by Lance Cpl. Austin Long/Released 130211-M-WC184-003.JPG

Sgt. Joshua Washington, a squad leader with Echo Company, 2nd Battalion, 6th Marine Regiment, radios to the command operations center that the mission is complete at Shooting Range 6, Feb. 11, 2013. Not only did Washington tell the COC that the mission was complete, he also reported in the number of Marines he had, any casualties in the squad and how much ammunition was left within each team of the squad. During a real fire mission, this information would be vital to the command’s decision on whether or not to push Washington’s squad onto another objective or pull his squad back to camp.
