Lieutenant Col. Charles R. Cassidy (left) of Evergreen, Ill. along with Lt. Col. Timothy R. Powledge (right) salute our nation’s colors along with the Marine Corps colors as the change of command ceremony takes place Feb. 6, 2014. A change of command ceremony is where a current unit commander relinquishes command for a new commanding officer to take charge; the ceremony includes the passing of the unit’s colors which symbolizes the passing of responsibility.
