Hailing from Sacramento California, LtCol Doykos was appointed a midshipman in the United States Naval Academy Class of 2005. Upon commissioning, LtCol Doykos reported to The Basic School and graduated the Infantry Officer's Course in April 2006.

In May 2006, LtCol Doykos reported to 1st Light Armored Reconnaissance Battalion where he served as a platoon commander during deployments to OPERATION IRAQI FREEDOM, and in support of the 13th MEU.

In December 2009, LtCol Doykos reported to 3rd Reconnaissance Battalion in Okinawa Japan where he served as Amphibious Reconnaissance Platoon Commander and Force Reconnaissance Platoon Commander in support of multiple PACOM theater engagements and exercises and two deployments with the 31st MEU.

In January 2012, LtCol Doykos reported to the MARSOC Individual Training Course and was assigned to 1st Marine Raider Battalion. He then deployed twice in support of OPERATION ENDURING FREEDOM as part of Joint Special Operations Task Force - Philippines and once to the SOCPAC AOR as part of Naval Special Warfare Unit - 1.

In June 2016, LtCol Doykos served as the MARSOC G-7 Exercise Branch Operations Officer at MARSOC Headquarters planning and executing 12 RAVEN exercises certifying Marine Special Operations Companies and Special Operations Task Forces for deployment.

In June 2018, LtCol Doykos reported to 3rd Marine Raider Battalion to serve as the Commander of MSOC K, deploying to Somalia in support of OPERATION FREEDOMS SENTINEL as part of Special Operations Task Force - East Africa.

Following his time at 3rd Marine Raider Battalion, LtCol Doykos returned to the MARSOC Headquarters and served in the G-3 and G-7, this time as Exercise Branch Director.

In June 2023, LtCol Doykos reported to the 2nd Marine Division to serve as Commanding Officer of 2nd Reconnaissance Battalion.

LtCol Doykos is married to the former Madonna Toomey of Chicago, IL and has two daughters, Eliana (4) and Amelia (2), and a son due in August of 2023. His hobbies include shot gunning and rugby. LtCol Doykos was a member of the 2007, 2008, and 2009 U.S. Marine Corps Rugby Teams and shot on the 2014, 2015, and 2016 U.S. Marine Corps Skeet Teams.

LtCol Doykos's personal awards include the Bronze Star Medal with gold stars in lieu of second award, the Meritorious Service Medal, the Navy and Marine Corps Commendation Medal with gold star in lieu of second award, the Navy and Marine Corps Achievement Medal, and the Combat Action Ribbon with two gold stars in lieu of third award.
