Sergeant Major Hoge enlisted in the Marine Corps in September of 1992. After completion of Recruit Training at MCRD San Diego, California and Marine Combat Training at Camp Pendleton he attended "A" and "C" school at NAS (Naval Air Station) Millington, Tennessee and NAS Lemoore, California earning the MOS of 6027 (F-404-GE-400), engine mechanic for the F/A-18 platform. Lance Corporal Hoge transferred to AIMD (Aircraft Intermediate Maintenance Department), NAS Lemoore in September of 1993 for duty. Sergeant Hoge would transfer to MALS (Marine Aviation Logistics Squadron) 12 in Iwakuni, Japan, 1st MAW for duty in June of 1996. In June of 1997 he would transfer to MALS 11, MCAS (Marine Corps Air Station) Miramar, California, 3rd MAW for duty. In September of 1999 he would transfer to MCRD San Diego, California for duty as a Drill Instructor. In January of 2003 Staff Sergeant Hoge would again transfer to MALS 11 for duty. In June of 2005 he received orders to Officer Candidates School, Marine Corps Base Quantico, Virginia. In November of 2007 GySgt Hoge would transfer to ALD (Aviation Logistics Department), 3rd MAW, for duties as the Engine Class desk where he would deploy to OIF 8.1 in Al Asad, Iraq. In April of 2009 First Sergeant Hoge transfered to First Battalion, Second Marines, 2D Marine Division for duties as the company First Sergeant. Here he would serve as the Bravo, Charlie and Weapons company First Sergeant and would deploy to Afghanistan as part of OEF 10.1 in 2010, Odyssey Dawn in 2011 as the BLT for the 26th MEU and in 2012 as the BLT for the 24th MEU. He then would transfer to Headquarters and Service Battalion, MCB Quantico, Virginia for duty as a Company First Sergeant. While stationed there, he would serve as the TECO (Training and Education Company) First Sergeant and Echo Company First Sergeant at OCS as a Summer Augment. In May of 2015 Sergeant Major Hoge would transfer to Combat Logistics Battalion Five, 1st Marine Logistics Group for duty as the Battalion Sergeant Major. He would deploy with the battalion to Kuwait as part of the SPMAGTF-CR-CC 16.2. In August of 2017 he would transfer to Ninth Communication Battalion, I Marine Information Group, I MEF. In May of 2019 he would transfer to 2D Marine Division to assume the post of the Eighth Marine Regiment Sergeant Major. In October of 2019 he would serve as the Task Force Southwest Sergeant Major and deploy to Afghanistan in February of 2020. Upon redeployment he assumed his post as the Eighth Marines Sergeant Major. Upon deactivation of Eighth Marines, he would transfer to Headquarters Battalion, 2D Marine Division.
Sergeant Major Hoge's personal awards include the Meritorious Service Medal with three gold stars, Navy and Marine Corps Commendation Medal with three gold stars and Combat Distinguishing Device, Navy and Marine Corps Achievement Medal with three gold stars and the Combat Action Ribbon.
