2d Combat Engineer Battalion Command Philosophy
"Engineers up!"
It is a privilege to command the Marine Corps’ premier Combat Engineer Battalion. From World War II to the Global War on Terrorism, to our global presence today, 2d Combat Engineer Battalion has served a pivotal role in our Nation’s defense. Time now, we stand ready to fight and engineer for 2d Marine Division. To answer that call, we will employ three core tenets to guide our thinking, shape our actions, and achieve decisive victory on the battlefield.
1. Combat Ready Approach. Your daily mindset must be: How do my actions today prepare me and my fellow 2d CEB Marines and Sailors for combat?
Master the Basics: Be a true expert in your MOS, the authority in military demolitions, and highly competent in infantry skills. Every Marine a rifleman!
Maintain Our Gear: We go to war with what we have. Both unit and individual equipment readiness is paramount to our success. PMCS + Accountability + Ownership.
Train Like We Fight: What we do in garrison translates directly to combat. There are no shortcuts. We must be ready to seamlessly integrate with 2d Marine Division units.
2. Our Engineer Family. People win wars. Our Marines and Sailors are our advantage.
Build Trust: Earn trust with your peers, subordinates, and seniors. Teamwork is foundational. Serve others, before oneself. Enrich the lives of your people.
Hold the Line: Hold each other accountable to standards and doing what is right. Companies, platoons, and squads should compete for excellence, while remembering we are one battalion.
Value the Homefront: Your support network matters. Prioritize quality time with family, friends, and teammates – put down the phone, be present, and engage with one another. Balancing work duties with your personal time supports our battalion readiness.
3. Professional Warfighting Culture. We all serve in the profession of arms. As a Professional, strive to be your very best.
Nail the Details: Professionalism is built through consistent actions. Discipline in appearance. Accountability of gear. Pride in our spaces. Warfighting knowledge.
Take Ownership: Be reliable. Be on time. Communicate clearly. Maintain a bias for action.
Represent: Uphold customs and courtesies. Ductus Exemplo! You represent 2d Combat Engineer Battalion in everything you do. Represent it well.
