Colonel Bobby Lee is a native of Corpus Christi, Texas. He was commissioned through the OCS Platoon
Leaders Course Combined program in October 2002. Upon completion of The Basic School, he reported to
Infantry Officer's Course and was designated an infantry officer.
In December 2004 Colonel Lee reported to 2nd Battalion, 4th Marines, and served as a Rifle Platoon
Commander and Executive Officer of Company E. He deployed on the 31st MEU to the Philippines and 15th
MEU in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom in Ar Ramadi, Iraq.
Upon returning from Iraq in May, 2007, Colonel Lee joined 2nd Fleet Anti-terrorism Security Team (FAST),
Marine Corps Security Forces Regiment in Yorktown, Virginia. Over the next three years he served as a FAST
Platoon Commander, Company Executive Officer, and Regimental Assistant Operations Officer followed by
attendance at Expeditionary Warfare School (EWS).
From May 2011 to July 2014, Colonel Lee served with 3rd Marine Regiment as the Commanding Officer of
Company I, 3rd Battalion, 3rd Marines deploying to Garmsir, Afghanistan; Assistant Operations Officer 3rd
Marine Regiment; and with 2nd Battalion, 3rd Marines as the Operations Officer deploying to Okinawa, Japan
in support of the Unit Deployment Program.
From July 2014 to June 2017 Colonel Lee served as a Faculty Advisor at EWS. Following graduation from the
Naval War College (ILS) and Maritime Advanced Warfighting School (MAWS) in 2018, he executed orders to
Marine Forces Pacific (MARFORPAC) G5 to serve as the lead Northeast Asia Planner.
In July 2020 he received orders to 1st Battalion, 23rd Marine Regiment, Houston, TX to serve as the Battalion
Inspector & Instructor until July 2022 when he was selected for Top Level Schools to attend the Naval War
College. In 2022, Colonel Lee was selected for the Naval War Colleges Advanced Strategist Program (ASP)
graduating in August 2023. He then served as the Director, Infantry Officer Course until June, 2025 receiving
orders to III MEF to serve as the G357 Future Operations Officer.
Colonel Lee took command of 6th Marine Regiment on 23 July 2026.
Colonel Lee is a graduate of EWS, MCTOG, MAWTS-1, Advanced Amphibious Warfare School (UK), Naval War
College, MAWS, and ASP.
His personal awards include the Bronze Star, Meritorious Service Medal with one silver star in lieu of sixth
award, Navy Commendation Medal, Army Commendation Medal, Navy and Marine Corps Achievement
Medal, and Combat Action Ribbon.
