Captain Puraty was
commissioned in 2005. After graduation from The Basic School and Infantry
Officers Course, he was assigned to First Light Armored Reconnaissance
Battalion from 2006 to 2009. He served as the Security Force
Platoon Commander, Bn
internal PTT Executive Officer, and as a Light Armored Vehicle Platoon
Commander. During this period he
deployed with First Light Armored Reconnaissance Battalion to Rawah, Iraq from
March 2007 to October 2007 and Sahl Singar, Iraq from October 2008 to April
2009 in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom.
In July of 2009 Captain
Puraty was assigned to Infantry Training Battalion, School of Infantry -
East. He served as the Company Executive
Officer for Company A until February 2010 completing three training cycles.
Next he assumed command of Company A in March 2010 and served as the Company Commander
through four training cycles until May of 2011. From there he was transferred
to Headquarters and Support Battalion, School of Infantry – East as the
Operations Officer from June 2011 to June 2012.
In July 2012 Capt Puraty
was assigned to 1st Battalion 9th Marines where he was selected to be an
individual augment in support of Operation Enduring Freedom. He deployed to
Kabul, Afghanistan from September 2012 to April 2013 where he served with the
United States Forces-Afghanistan Headquarters, J3 directorate, Current
Operations as the Deputy Current Operations, FRAGO Manager, and Battle Major.
Upon his return he assumed command of Company A in May 2013 and then deployed
to Camp Leatherneck, Afghanistan in support of Operation Enduring Freedom from
Sep 2013 to May 2014. He then participated in the deactivation of the Battalion
before moving onto his next assignment in Sep 2014.
Capt Puraty was then
selected to serve with the Ground Combat Element Integrated Task Force, Company
B as the Company Commander. While there he executed a service level assessment
as part of the Marine Corps Force Integration Campaign Line of Effort 3 for the
Commandant of the Marine Corps from Sep 2014 to Aug 2015. He is currently
serving with the Division Combat Skills Center as the Deputy Director.
