CAMP HURRICANE POINT, Ar Ramadi, Iraq (April 5, 2005) -Private First Class Andrew J. Juraska, Cpl. Travis E. Box, Sgt. David J. Oconnell and Major Benjamin B. Busch, were awarded Purple Hearts at a ceremony here for wounds they received while supporting Operation Iraqi Freedom during their first month in Iraq. The four Marines' wounds were from shrapnel, and each Marine returned to full duty the next day after being injured. More than 40 of their fellow Marines, Navy officers and corpsman attended to honor the four Marines who cheated death. They now join the ranks of many servicemembers before them who've received the U.S. military's oldest medal, which was first awarded in 1782. Photo by Cpl. Tom Sloan
