AR RAMADI, Iraq (April 18, 2005) -Lance Cpl. Angel R. Campos, a mortar man with 3rd Squad, 3rd Platoon, Company C, 1st Battalion, 5th Marine Regiment, posts security from a street corner and keeps vigilant watch on an Iraqi walking in the street ahead of him. Locals living in the southern outskirts of the city here have been known to harbor hatred toward Marines visiting their neighborhoods. Campos, 20-year-old from San Diego joined other Marines with 3rd Platoon, Company C, 1st Battalion, 5th Marines, in visiting an area where, just two weeks ago, they engaged insurgents in the biggest firefight they've had since deploying here in early March. Nothing happened during this patrol, however, and the warriors returned safely to their firm base, Camp Snake Pit. Photo by Cpl. Tom Sloan
