Gunnery Sgt. Fernando L. Llanos, 33, from Queens, N.Y., checks the identification of an Iraqi civilian while on patrol with soldiers from 1st Brigade, 3rd Battalion, 1st Iraqi Army Division. Taking charge and setting the right example are important qualities in his duties as the senior advisor for Company 2. He is part of the Military Transition Team, which originated from 3rd Battalion, 6th Marine Regiment.
