1st Lt. Elliott M. Peterson, the adjutant of 1st Battalion, 1st Marine Regiment, Regimental Combat Team 6, shows his handwritten signature to an Iraqi boy during a combined medical exercise here Oct. 20, 2007. The CME, which was done in conjunction with 2nd Battalion, 3rd Brigade, 1st Iraqi Army Division, allowed local citizens from the city of Kahalid a chance to be examined, treated and prescribed medication for their illnesses. The operation was an example of the Iraqi army’s success in the area and allowed the soldiers the chance to learn more about the people of the town, where they work, what their biggest problems are and how they live.
