Sgt. Jacbo B. Elliot, the 81mm section leader and Lansing, New York native, with 81mm Mortar Platoon, Weapons Company, 2nd Battalion, 2nd Marine Regiment, 2nd Marine Division, sets an aiming point for Gun Two, June 25. Marines with 81 mm Mortar Platoon spent three days in the field to train freshly appointed forward observers under heavy stress while training mortarmen to remain proficient.
