Marines with fire a M224 60mm mortar system during a live-fire mortar range at Camp Lejeune, N.C., Dec. 19, 2017. The unit used the hand held, direct lay and direct alignment methods to engage targets 1,500 meters away. This provided Marines with India Company, 3rd Battalion, 6th Marine Regiment, 2nd Marine Division the opportunity to increase their proficiency and familiarization with the weapon system.
